A perfect day in San Francisco
I had an amazing time on the San Francisco and Alcatraz Tour! The ferry ride was fantastic and we had perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge! The Alcatraz Island audio tour was well done, and I loved learning about the prison’s history and escape attempts. The bus tour around Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown was very informative, and we saw the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre up close, which was stunning. I loved how we could see the whole city and catch its atmosphere in one day!

Al Capone's time in Alcatraz
Alcatraz held 1,576 prisoners in total, but few were as notorious as mob boss Al Capone, known as Convict #85. He arrived in August 1934 after being transferred from Atlanta Penitentiary and was one of the first inmates.
At Atlanta Penitentiary, Al enjoyed many special privileges due to his reputation and wealth. So, after his transfer, some sources say that he also tried to bribe Alcatraz guards for special treatment during his four-year sentence for tax evasion. However, he was stopped since Alcatraz was perhaps the strictest prison in the US at the time. An interesting fact is that he even played banjo (and guitar) in the prison band, the Rock Islanders, entertaining the inmates and making their time in the prison a little more manageable.
